People in Need in collaboration with USAID and the Czech Development Agency hosted the conference "Future of Food Safety in Georgia".

It is a fact that realizing Georgia’s economic potential and bringing wealth to Georgian families mostly depends on how the country manages to use the opportunity provided by the free trade agreement with the EU and establishes effective trade with the European countries. To achieve this goal, Georgia must comply with the EU food safety standards, which is quite a new and challenging task for Georgian agro producers.

During the last two years, PIN under the USAID and Czech Development Agency funded project supported farmers in building capacities (through trainings, info meetings, video tutorials, etc.) allowing them to comply with necessary standards of trade with EU.

As a final accord of this project, we organized the conference “Future of Food Safety in Georgia”, which gave us a good opportunity to evaluate the result of 2 –year of our work and also to discuss with the private and public sector, ways of tackling challenges of Georgian agro producers that can help them reach final destination and find deserved place under the sun of the EU market.
